Affordable Chain Restaurant – Beef Bowl is the Signature Dish – Sukiya

Three of the most well-known gyudon chain restaurants in Japan are Matsuya, Sukiya, and Yoshinoya. Yoshinoya has been operating in Taiwan for many years, but I personally find Matsuya’s taste less to my liking. That leaves Sukiya, which I prefer. Although Sukiya has also opened stores in Taiwan, the prices there are considerably higher than in Japan, and the menu offerings are slightly different.

After being seated, the waiter will bring a glass of iced water to the table. On the table, you will find the menu, condiments, pickled vegetables, and a service bell.

Sukiya does not use automated ticket machines, but instead relies on manual ordering. This means that you can take your time to carefully look at the menu and decide what you want. The advantage of this is that for those who are unfamiliar with the restaurant, they can take their time to browse. (When I first stepped in and sat down, the staff was already eager to take my order…XD)

The main course is a variety of beef bowls, and the side dishes need to be ordered separately at an additional cost, unlike at Yoshinoya where miso soup is included…

Once you have decided what meal you want, simply press the service bell and the waiter will come over to take your order.

After ordering, take a look at the condiments. They use shredded red ginger.

This is the sauce.

Soy sauce and seven spice powder

I ordered a bowl of the most ordinary beef bowl for 280 yuan, and then added a tofu side dish (cold tofu and miso soup) for 100 yuan.

Let’s take another round of photos, this time featuring beef bowl and marbled beef. They are truly not greasy. However, when eating hot pot or barbecue, they can be perceived as greasy. The beef in the beef bowl, on the other hand, is not.

Add ginger shreds and seven spice powder.

Just a simple drizzle of soy sauce is all you need for tofu.

Of course, in the end, we finished eating~

Finally, it’s time for my bill. I can settle it after finishing my meal.

Above is a brief introduction to Sukiya. If you want to try authentic Japanese beef bowl, I think you should give it a try. Since beef bowls are similar, I won’t give it a rating. However, personally, I think Sukiya is tastier than Matsuya and Yoshinoya.
