Kansai International Airport Food – Donburi Kanjo

There are many restaurants on the second floor of Terminal 1 at Kansai International Airport. The restaurants are concentrated in two areas, Minami Noren Street and Dining Court. The Donburi Kanjo restaurant I ate at this time is located in the Dining Court area.

Just pick a place and let’s eat!

There are quite a few shops along the streets of Dining Court. There are about ten of them.

The final choice is this one, codenamed M-11, and the restaurant is called “Donburi Kanjo”.
It is a restaurant mainly focused on tempura, but they also have other fried dishes.

First, use the meal voucher vending machine to purchase your ticket.

So many delicious foods, which one should I choose?

Once you’ve made your selection, find a seat and wait for the restaurant to prepare your meal.
This complimentary item is called Tenchazuke soup stock (Japanese: 天茶漬けダシ).
It’s used to enhance the flavor of leftover rice, creating a dish similar to tea-soaked rice.

On the left is Ebi TenDonburi (Japanese: エビ天丼); on the right is Buta Kakuni Donburi (Japanese: 豚角煮丼).

I forgot who it was, but they ordered a different Yasai Donburi (Japanese: 野菜丼) to go with us.

This shrimp is so big! It’s even longer than chopsticks.

This is the Buta Kakuni Donburi that I ordered for ¥900.

The taste of the miso soup is average.

Let’s take a look at what I ate. The egg in the middle is a strangely cooked half-boiled egg.

Pork simmered in soy sauce and served over rice is actually what we call “Buta Kakuni Donburi” in Japanese. The pork is cooked until it becomes incredibly tender and literally melts in your mouth. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

Above is a simple food review of Donburi Kanjo on Kansai International Airport Dining Court.

Comment:
This Buta Kakuni Donburi is really delicious at first bite.
It’s somewhat similar to Dongpo pork, but without the crispy skin. In terms of texture, the outer layer is crispy (batter), the middle is firm (meat), and the inside is tender (fat).
However, like most fried foods, it can become greasy and heavy if eaten for too long.
It contains a rich amount of fat, so it is recommended to share with a companion instead of eating it alone, otherwise, it may feel nauseating.
Therefore, definitely do not challenge it alone!
