Kobe Sannomiya’s Famous Queuing Restaurant – Akaman – Dumpling Specialty Shop – Ranked Second in Kobe’s Dumpling World in Japanese Travel Magazine.

Why did I come to eat at this Akaman Dumpling Specialty Store? It’s actually just a grudge!
Because when I came to Kobe before, I already knew about Akaman and wanted to try it, but they were sold out that day.
Then, for some reason, I came to Kobe again and wanted to dine here, but they were sold out again!
Is fate really this tragic?! So, how deep is the grudge for these dumplings?
Therefore, today I’m giving it another try! Others may have made three visits to a famous place, but I’m making three visits to a dumpling shop!

This Akaman is ranked second in the dumpling world of Kobe in famous Japanese travel magazines.
(this sentence reminds me of the king of the beggar world…).

A serving of dumplings contains 7 pieces and costs 280 yen.

Today, I arrived around four or five o’clock, so there should be enough seats here to accommodate around ten to twelve people.

The sauces on the table

Miso sauce is a specialty here.
The chili oil on the side only adds flavor, it’s not spicy at all.

When eating here, one person should at least order a portion for two people.
In other words, one person should order at least 14 dumplings. You can’t just order 7.
The business hours start at 1 or 2 in the afternoon and continue until 8:30 in the evening (last orders are taken before 8).
If the dumplings are sold out early, they will close (that’s why I always come early).
They are closed on Wednesdays.

Next to it, it says that if you want to add more, it should be enough for two servings.

This is miso sauce, the taste is a bit mild. If it’s too strong, it might also be too salty.

The dumpling’s skin is quite ordinary.

However, I forgot to take a picture of the filling.
The filling is just regular cabbage and pork dumplings, but the cabbage is cut super, super, super fine… so fine that you can actually taste that it’s cabbage, but without that feeling of eating vegetable fibers.

Because there was only miso sauce, I felt that the flavor was not strong enough, so I added a bunch of non-spicy chili oil to bring out some flavor.

Compared to other dumpling shops, what sets Akaman apart is its miso sauce. As for the chili oil, it’s not spicy at all, but quite fragrant.
As for the filling, it’s a typical Japanese dumpling with a very fine texture. It’s almost like eating finely shredded cabbage… XD
However, Japanese people enjoy this kind of texture. If you’re a fan of Japanese dumplings, you should give it a try.
