The Higashimuki Shopping Street next to Kintetsu Nara Station is a small shopping street, and this Okaru is located inside the Higashimuki Shopping Street. Although it is not a very famous Nara cuisine restaurant, it is quite popular among local office workers… When I came here for lunch, the streets felt deserted, but there were quite a few customers in the shop!
The restaurant looks like this, not many seats available~ (This is the situation after finishing the meal)
Just as luck would have it, the table next to us had just finished their meal, so I was able to take photos…
Every table has an iron plate.
The sauce is placed on the side, so you can use whatever you prefer.
There is also a menu available in both Chinese and English~
Luckily there is Japanese written above, otherwise reading this Chinese would make me cry~
The two ladies across the table were enjoying Okonomiyaki and Modern Yaki. The waiter immediately came over to prepare it right in front of them. Take a look at her technique, so powerful. If the spoon turned into a knife, she would probably be accused of something…
According to Abe Hiroshi’s explanation in “Kekkon Dekinai Otoko “, the purpose of stirring the mixture is to remove any air bubbles. Therefore, it is important to stir it carefully. After pouring it onto the iron plate, it should be spread evenly, with a diameter of about 8 inches (approximately estimated based on my nearsightedness of around 600 degrees).
Then, you can add the toppings~ This is Okonomiyaki, also known as Osaka-style pancake. If you add pork, it will have a pork flavor, and if you add seafood, it will have a seafood flavor~
In addition, this is the process of making Modern Yaki for ¥1000. Besides the usual base of Okonomiyaki, it is topped with an egg and fried noodles.
And add pork as well.
After frying the bottom slightly, you can flip it over.
Not long after, cover the pot with a lid. Wait for about 3 to 5 minutes, and we’re almost done (Can we also include the Tatung baby?).
Pour on the delicious Mayonnaise. Based on my estimation, the hands of the shop assistant move rapidly from side to side at a speed of 3 meters per second.
And with the addition of bonito flakes, it’s a job well done~
Take a look at how the authentic Japanese people cut this Okonomiyaki… The posture of holding the spatula is really fierce.
Another option is to cut it into small pieces, making it easier to eat…
Next up is what I ordered~ This is the beef fried noodles that I ordered for 900 yuan.
The things we ordered… The Akashiyaki next to it is also mine~^O^
Dengleng~ Akashiyaki ¥550
This is the sauce used when eating Akashiyaki.
Just eat the Akashiyaki without dipping anything. It feels like eating an Omurice, except that it’s not rice inside, but octopus…
Coat with non-spicy sauce.
Apply the special sauce.
Put the Akashiyaki into the soup~
After eating the Akashiyaki, you can see a layer of oil floating on the surface of the soup~
Above is the situation of dining at Okaru~

Personal food rating: ★★★ (3)
Comment:
Because I haven’t tried Akashiyaki before, I decided to give it a try. The portion size is generous, with 8 pieces costing only ¥550, which is not bad.
As for the fried noodles, I think it’s quite similar to Taiwan’s beef fried noodles. However, the taste still has a Japanese influence. But the beef slices are very similar to Taiwan’s, tender and delicious.
Rating Criteria:
Five stars: Super delicious; after eating, it will make you want to go back for more.
Four stars: Delicious; after eating, you’ll feel satisfied, but it won’t leave a lasting impression.
Three stars: Not bad; if you happen to be nearby, it’s worth a try.
Two stars: Average; if you don’t want to take any risks, you can give it a go.
One star: Not my cup of tea; potential disappointment.
