This article is a tribute to the legend of “Golden Legend”! Because I often see the protagonist, Masaru Hamaguchi, from “Golden Legend” going around to gather food and occasionally encountering kind-hearted people who would give him a free catch or something unexpected. And guess what? We also encountered the same thing here in Naruto! So, what did we get as our spoils of war? Drum roll, please… seaweed wakame!
Originally, we were just taking a boat ride to go see the whirlpool.
However, we became interested in the fishermen working by the harbor.
The water has been constantly emitting smoke, and there are even bubbles forming, which makes us curious about what is inside.
After watching the whirlpool, I came over to see what it was.
It turns out that the whole car is filled with this kind of seaweed. This is one of the specialties of Naruto – wakame.
After being harvested, it looks like this deep brown color. Then, after a series of washing processes, it will turn green.
In order not to disturb their work, I had no choice but to watch from the side. It feels so hot.
This elderly gentleman wants to heat up the dark brown seaweed in a large pot.
Then keep stirring.
In the future, it seems like someone else will take over and it feels like every piece of seaweed needs to be washed, and washed, and washed.
After washing, it looks like this, completely green.
However, the local fishermen were incredibly friendly and even asked us if we wanted to try some food.
So, we ended up getting 2 free servings of wakame seaweed!
This is a child of wakame, so it is different from mature products that are usually made into food.
However, it can be eaten directly… and it is rich in gelatin, so it has a slightly sticky texture when eaten.
The taste is somewhat similar to the seaweed commonly found at Market stall in Taiwan…
If sliced and served cold, with a little soy sauce and chili, it will be even more delicious!
Above is a simple introduction to the famous product of Naruto – wakame.
Because it was a spontaneous decision to visit, I had to shamelessly ask the accompanying Naruto City tourism personnel and translator, Kurumi-san, for information.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
However, personally, I am more interested in unplanned itineraries like this. Hehe.
