Captain’s House and Dinner – Not Recommended for Gout Sufferers.
Seriously, if you have gout and read this review, don’t blame me if you rush to eat seafood…
The Captain’s House is currently closed and it’s unclear when it will reopen.
Captain’s House is located by Lake Saroma in Eastern Hokkaido.
I saw a food review online a long time ago and have always wanted to come here for the food…
This Captain’s House mainly serves as accommodation.
This building houses the main reception and other rooms, including the restaurant.
Upon entering, you’ll see that everything inside is related to fishing
This is the reception desk.
Staying at Captain’s House is quite a hassle.
Currently, reservations can only be made by phone, so if you don’t understand Japanese, it’s tough to book.
You need to ask someone who knows Japanese to help you make a reservation.
On the other side, this is also a restaurant, but it seems to cater to outside customers.
Guests staying here dine elsewhere.
The living quarters are on the second floor.
Next is the room.
Interestingly, the washbasin is outside.
Inside is the bathroom.
They also have a large public bath, but I was too tired~
Showering in the room was enough.
This is what the room looks like.
The air conditioning is not cold at all.
You have to lay out your own bedding here.
They provide quite a variety of drinks for you to make.
Meal times at Captain’s House are fixed; you have to go down to eat when it’s time
If you’re late, they’ll come to your room to call you down for dinner…
Dinner starts at 18:40.
When I saw the table full of food, I was stunned~.
I had heard that the portions here are so large that you can’t finish them~
How many dishes are there? I don’t know; what you see is just the beginning
Because more dishes keep coming!!
1. First and second dishes
One red king crab and ten legs of snow crab.
Since one red king crab serves two people, the portions are substantial.
2: Snow crab legs.
Snow crab is the easiest to eat…
3: Assorted sashimi: salmon, sweet shrimp, unknown fish, scallops, sea urchin.
4. Simmered salmon.
5. Baked seafood, which includes not only shellfish but also squid legs and scallops.
6. Another unknown fish, but quite tasty.
7. Obviously, this is fruit for dessert.
8. Another fish, sweet and sour.
9. Snow crab legs, but this is for two people; you need to blanch them before eating.
10. This pot is for blanching the snow crab legs, and you can also throw in some kelp to cook.
Snow crab shrinks a lot after blanching, but it’s still delicious.
11. Looks like stingray, with a nice texture and rich in collagen.
12. Grilled snails.
13. Eel.
14. Crab meat rice.
15. Chawanmushi, oh my, I’ve never had such sweet chawanmushi.
16. Crab meat salad, quite tasty.
17. Two hairy crabs, this is for two people, so one crab per person.
18. Halfway through, they brought two large grilled prawns.
There was no space on the table, so I had to place them on my lap for the photo.
19. Cold vegetable salad.
20. Scallop and Tamagoyaki.
21. Another type of grilled screw meat.
22. This is a specialty of Lake Saroma, a red shrimp that’s quite fresh and sweet.
23. This shellfish is also quite tasty.
24. Crab soup, the broth is unique, it seems like a lot of burdock was added.
Finally, I finished everything. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Because my wife is allergic to crabs,
so she only tried one leg each of the king crab, snow crab, and hairy crab,
I had to finish the rest of the crabs myself…
Honestly, eating this much alone is really scary…
After finishing this meal, I don’t want to touch crabs or seafood for the next month…
That’s the dinner experience at Captain’s House~
Those with gout, please do not attempt this lightly. If you really want to challenge it, remember to prepare medication and drink plenty of water.
After returning home, do not casually undergo a health check, or else your report might be filled with red marks. This blog is not responsible for that.
