To get from Chubu International Airport to Nagoya, you can use either the railway or the airport bus, both of which are popular means of transportation. However, when it comes to the railway, there is only one railway company available, namely Meitetsu. Before using Meitetsu, it is recommended to first read the introduction to “Chubu International Airport” so that you know where to start from!
Meitetsu – Chubu Centrair Airport Station
The following is a diagram of the station structure at Central International Airport. It is a terminal station with three platforms. You can see that Platform 1 is dedicated to the special train μ-sky (ミュースカイ), which is similar to the Rapi:t on the Kansai Nankai Railway. It has reserved seating throughout the train.
The ticket gate shown in the picture is where tickets are checked. The green area outside the ticket gate is the transportation plaza.

Meitetsu Route Map
This is the Meitetsu route map. The red line represents the route and stops of the special train μ-sky, while the blue line represents the route and stops of the regular express trains. Let me explain briefly. Meitetsu’s express trains have both unreserved and reserved seats. When riding an express train, you don’t need to purchase an express ticket. However, if you want to ride in a reserved seat, you need to purchase a reserved seat ticket (¥360 Japanese yen). μ-sky is a special train that only has reserved seats, so you need to purchase a reserved seat ticket.
If we talk about travel time, it takes about 35 minutes by express train from Chubu International Airport to Meitetsu Nagoya Station, and about 29 minutes by μ-sky.

The translation of the text is as follows:
Starting from the Transportation Plaza, if you look to the left after arriving from Terminal 1, you will see the Meitetsu “”Chubu Centrair International Airport”” Station (if you come from Terminal 2, it will be on the right). The Chubu Centrair International Airport Station can be translated as “中部國際機場車站” in Chinese.
At the ticket counter on the left side of the entrance, you will find the exchange counter for redeeming vouchers purchased from KKDAY and KLOOK.

Above the ticket machine, there is a route map and fare table. If you are going to Nagoya from here, it takes about 28 minutes by μ-SKY and only 37 minutes by regular express train.

Here is the timetable. Meitetsu offers various types of trains to and from Chubu Centrair International Airport. In addition to the regular semi-express, express, rapid express, and limited express trains, there is also a special train called μ-sky (ミュ-スカイ). Similar to Nankai Electric Railway’s Rapi:t, μ-sky is a fully reserved seating train. To ride this train, you need to purchase a separate reserved seat ticket for 360 Japanese yen. The most common train to take is the limited express train, which has both unreserved seats and reserved seats (special cars). If you want to ride in a reserved seat (special car), you also need to purchase a separate reserved seat ticket (known as “特別車両券” or “ミューチケット” in Japanese) for 360 Japanese yen. If you choose to ride in an unreserved seat, you only need to pay the regular fare of 890 Japanese yen.

There are three platforms here, with Platform 1 being exclusively for μ-SKY trains, while regular trains board on Platforms 2 and 3.

On the right is the semi-express train, on the left is the limited express train that I am about to take, heading to Gifu. However, I will be getting off at Nagoya.

Just hop on, this is the free seating car of the express train. There is no need to pay extra. If you board from Chubu Centrair International Airport, there are plenty of available seats. However, if you are traveling from Nagoya back to Chubu Centrair International Airport, it is easy to end up without a seat, and reserved seats also sell out quickly.

Additional Explanation
1. When traveling from Chubu Centrair International Airport to downtown Nagoya, if you take the limited express train, it usually consists of 6-8 carriages. The last two carriages (carriage numbers 1 and 2) are reserved seats, while the other four carriages (3-6) are unreserved seats.
If you take the μ-sky train, it consists of 4 carriages, all of which are reserved seats, with no unreserved seats.
2. KKDAY and KLOOK offer both regular train tickets and reserved seat tickets for sale. You can purchase them in advance and then exchange them at the designated counter.
