[Hong Kong] 2016 Second Visit to Hong Kong | Three-Day Two-Night Free Tour

I first visited Hong Kong on a free tour at the end of May this year, and unexpectedly, less than four months later, I made a second visit. I can only say that Hong Kong has a relative advantage for free travel due to its proximity to Taiwan. However, this trip was more of a leisurely staff trip, so there were fewer photography spots. This time, instead of visiting the main attractions in Hong Kong, I went to Tai O Fishing Village in Hong Kong to experience a different Hong Kong style. In addition, I took the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car, one of the top ten cable cars in the world, to enjoy the beautiful sea-crossing cable car view. Of course, the experience of the tram is a must. If you haven’t taken the tram, don’t say you’ve been to Hong Kong!

Unlike the weather at the end of May, the weather in Hong Kong at the end of September and the beginning of October is much more comfortable. You won’t feel cold in the morning and evening wearing a short-sleeved shirt. As for the itinerary, this time it was a more relaxed one, but since one of my companions was visiting Hong Kong for the first time, we still visited some of the spots from the last time.

Day 1: Taoyuan International Airport→10:00 Cathay Pacific CX469→11:30 Hong Kong Airport→Airport Express→Sheung Wan Homy Inn Check in+Luggage Drop→Central Snacks & Leisure→Tsim Sha Tsui Leisure→Lin Heung Kui Dinner
Day 2: Sheung Wan Breakfast→Tung Chung Station→Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car→Big Buddha→Tai O Fishing Village→Ngong Ping Market→Tung Chung Outlet→Central Chi Kee Dinner
Day 3: Central Honolulu Cafe Breakfast→Stanley (Market, Murray House, Stanley Street, Stanley Plaza)→Causeway Bay (Hysan Place)→Tram→Central Starbucks→Airport Express→19:50 Cathay Pacific CX468 Return to Taiwan

For this trip, I still used my beloved Nikon D750 for the camera body. Although I brought two lenses, the Nikon 28mm F1.8G and Nikon 16-35mm F4G, I actually only used the Nikon 28mm F1.8G lens. This was the first time I used a fixed-focus lens for the entire trip abroad, which resulted in this 28mm Hong Kong second visit travelogue.

#1 Cathay Pacific B747-400, last TPE->HKG passenger plane.

The journey started with a surprise, catching the last Cathay Pacific B747-400 passenger plane from Taipei to Hong Kong.

#2 The sky was a bit cloudy when we arrived in Hong Kong.

#3 After a short rest, we were ready to fly to Hong Kong Airport.

#4 A must-take photo of the subway station name when you come to Hong Kong. I hope I can take a subway station name tour next time.

#5 Unlike last time when we stayed in Kowloon, this time we chose to stay on Hong Kong Island, which is a bustling area. Homy Inn is located in Sheung Wan, and the room is still quite small.

#6 The first meal in Hong Kong was at Tsui Wah Restaurant.

#7 The second meal was at Lan Fong Yuen, which I quite like. This time I chose French toast.

#8 Because I was too full, I had to walk from Central to the pier. This is the eye-catching APPLE flagship store inside IFC.

#9 The week after we went, this venue hosted Formula E.

#10 The Star Cruises always seems to be parked outside Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui.

#11 The streets of Sheung Wan are even more dazzling at night.

#12 In Sheung Wan & Central, you can see many Taiwanese hand-shake shops. A cup of pearl milk tea costs almost seventy Taiwan dollars, which is quite surprising.

#13 The Hong Kong-style roast meat at Lin Heung Kui in Sheung Wan. Compared to the last trip, I ate a lot more roast meat this time XD.

#14 Thanks to the large aperture of the lens, I was able to take clear photos inside the dimly lit tram.

#15 The quiet morning in Sheung Wan, without the noise of people, seems a bit lonely.

#16 Because of a heavy thunderstorm in the early morning, the road surface still feels wet.

#17 Hong Kong MTR Tung Chung Line, because it coincided with the start of the 10/1 long holiday, there were not a few passengers.

#18 I originally wanted to take a bus to Tai O first, but because I didn’t do enough homework, I ended up taking the cable car round trip XD.

#19 The journey was shrouded in a thick mist, creating a sense of being in a fairyland.

#20 To pay homage to the Big Buddha on Lantau Island, one must first climb 268 steps.

#21 Drinking a Taiwanese beverage in Hong Kong XD~ I don’t think this flavor is available in Taiwan?

#22 Getting ready to take the bus to Tai O.

#23 Tai O fishing village is famous for its market, where many shops sell seafood.

#24 Tai O fishing village feels like a water town.

#25 You can see a few cats on the streets of Tai O. Perhaps due to the number of tourists, the cats here are not afraid of people.

#26 The roast duck at Tai O Crossing Boat Restaurant is delicious but oily.

#27 Another signature dish from the same restaurant is Tai O salty fresh cage lotus leaf rice.

#28 Tai O’s package includes a 20-25 minute water tour, where you can see the unique stilt houses from different angles.

#29 On the water tour, you can see the rare Chinese white dolphins and the under-construction Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.

#30 Some shops in another corner of the Tai O market are not open for business.

#31 The stilt houses in Tai O are truly unique, offering a completely different feel from the city of Hong Kong.

#32 Another friendly cat, resting in front of me for a photo XD

#33 Every household’s life is closely related to the sea.

#34 The Ngong Ping market on the return journey is still crowded, and the weather is much better than when we arrived.

#35 The sunset clouds and blue sky add a touch of mystery to the distant Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.

#36 The 25-minute Ngong Ping 360 cable car ride offers 4-5 different scenic views.

#37 Several sections of the sea-crossing route not only offer beautiful scenery but also a sense of looking down from above.

#38 The Hong Kong International Airport in the distance under the setting sun.

#39 The fountain in front of Tung Chung Station is a playground for children.

#40 The Central Stone Slab Street at night.

#41 The Yangzhou fried rice from Wong Chi Kee, which I think only deserves a 70 out of 100.

#42 Because I had a Taiwanese drink during the day, I had to try a local drink at night.

#43 A very quiet Central district.

#44 Breakfast at Honolulu Cafe, suddenly realizing how cheap breakfast is in Taiwan.

#45 A shop in Stanley Market selling many retro items.

#46 I was lucky to encounter good weather both times I visited Stanley.

#47 Stanley Street on a Sunday, with many more tourists compared to my last visit.

#48 Thanks to my travel companions for making this trip perfect.

#49 Stanley Plaza at 11 o’clock attracted many tourists.

#50 Because I spent too much on previous meals, I had to settle for McDonald’s, which is even cheaper than in Taiwan.

#51 A seafood restaurant on Stanley Street, I’ll have a feast next time I have the chance.

#52 The Hong Kong taxi that I didn’t get to try on both of my visits to Hong Kong.

#53 A small alley in the bustling Causeway Bay, still retaining some of the early Hong Kong architectural style.

#54 One of my favorite photos from this trip, encapsulating the essence of Hong Kong.

#55 The hustle and bustle of traffic and waiting people.

#56 I took several tram rides on this trip, experiencing a different atmosphere from buses or the MTR.

#57 The postcard I sent to a friend, which was successfully received by the time I wrote this article.

#58 The unique totem on the outer wall of a construction site in Central.

#59 The Starbucks in Central and the stairs outside, which I heard are beautiful at night.

#60 The bustling Central district, preparing to leave Hong Kong.

#61 Ending with a photo of the A340-300 that I didn’t get to ride due to a machine failure, which also delayed my schedule…

Finally, I used a new method to edit these photos, which I think suits the style and flavor of Hong Kong. Anyway, I’ll slowly update the rest of the travelogue.
