Kanku Chikatoku Ticket – Valid for Osaka Metro, suitable for people living along the subway lines in Osaka City

The main usage of the Kanku (Osaka City) Chikatoku Ticket is that it allows you to transfer at Namba without any time restrictions.
This means you can take a stroll in Dotonbori and then return to Namba to catch a train to your destination (including various stations on the Osaka Metro such as Shin-Osaka and Umeda).
This pass consists of only one ticket and can only be used to transfer at Namba station. The ticket will not be collected, so you can continue using it.
It is suitable for people living along the subway lines in Osaka, especially the Midosuji Line, as it can save you some money.

This ticket is expected to be discontinued on September 30, 2023.

Additional Explanation

If you get off at a station other than Nanhai-Namba Station, you won’t be able to use it anymore; in other words, you can’t transfer at Tengachaya Station!! (If users try to use it, accidents may occur, please refer to the frequently asked questions below)

This is the reply I received when I wrote a letter to the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau.

2. If you want to go from Osaka to Kansai Airport, you can board the subway at any station, but make sure to get off at “Namba” station.
Then, go to Nankai Namba and board the train.
If you get off at any other Osaka Metro station, your ticket will become invalid and you won’t be able to take the Nankai Electric Railway.

3. For the Nanhai Electric Railway section, you can only take regular trains (express, local, or limited express unreserved seats).
If you want to ride the Rapito, an additional ¥500 express fee is required.

4. Only available for purchase at the automated ticket machines, not available at the counter.

5. From Nankai Namba to Osaka Metro – Midosuji Line – Namba Station, it takes about an 8-minute walk. You will need to exit the station and then enter again.

6. When transferring at Namba Station, there is no time limit for transfers on the same day.

Below is the response I received after writing a letter to the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Can I use the same ticket from Kansai Airport to Tengachaya to ride the Osaka Metro?
A1: No, you can only exit at Namba Station. If you exit at any other station, your ticket will be taken away.

PS: On 2012.09.16, a netizen named Xiao Zhi reported that he successfully used this ticket to transfer from Tengachaya to Nankai Electric Railway.
However, he showed the ticket to the station staff and then went through the manual ticket gate (both Osaka Metro and Nankai Electric Railway have this option), and the station staff allowed them to pass.
This method is not a normal method, but I still want to inform all netizens about it.
If any friends try this method but are unable to pass, this blog will not be responsible.

Q2: Is this a one-day pass? Can I use it freely on the same day?
A2: This is only for single use and can only be used once.

Q3: Can I use this ticket to go from Umeda to Morinomiya and then to Kansai Airport?
A3: No, the ticket will become invalid when you exit at Morinomiya. You will need to purchase another ticket.
It is recommended to buy a ticket from Umeda to Morinomiya, and then purchase another ticket at Morinomiya to travel from Morinomiya to Namba to Kansai Airport.

Q4: Can I take a bus from Kansai Airport to Namba, then go shopping, and then return to Namba and take a bus to Shinsaibashisuji or other subway stations? Or after taking the train to Namba, should I go directly to the subway Namba Station and transfer to other stations (ex: Nagahoribashi, Port of Osaka)?
A4: Yes, you can. This is how the ticket is used, so please don’t ask me again… XD

Q5: Will this ticket be taken away when exiting at Namba Station?
A5: No, it will not be taken away.
