Why do you have to visit Okaga Yokocho before going to Ise Grand Shrine? That’s because you’ll pass by Okaga Yokocho on your way to Naiku of Ise Grand Shrine. And, it just feels like something is missing if you don’t explore this street!
The manhole cover probably depicts the scene of ancient people coming to visit Ise Grand Shrine.
As you enter Okaga Yokocho, you can immediately see a dancing cat here.
Usually it’s ghost tiles, but here it’s cat tiles… XD
Okaga Yokocho is a lively area where a bunch of shops and restaurants gather.
These chairs look like you can sit on them casually, but no one is sitting~
Akafuku, this is an old shop and a famous wagashi in the Ise area. This is already the old Oharai-machi street leading to Ise Grand Shrine (from here on, it is no longer Okaga Yokocho).

If you walk along this road, you will reach Ise Grand Shrine. This road is called Oharai-machi Street.
This is the direction towards Sarutahiko Shrine.
There are many famous shops along the way, like this one famous for selling Matsusaka beef buns.
There is still a cow head shape on the baozi.
When you cut it open, there’s so little filling in the baozi. It costs 400 yuan for one, which is quite expensive. The filling inside is also very sweet in taste.
There is hardly any beef, but there is plenty of meat juice… It’s quite unique~
