National Taiwan Museum Railway Department
Located opposite Taipei’s North Gate, the National Taiwan Museum Railway Department is an indoor exhibition area that has been renovated and reopened in recent years. The exterior of the Railway Department itself has a strong Japanese colonial architectural style, similar to the Presidential Office Building. The main attraction here is the opportunity to appreciate many railway histories and artifacts, various models of Taiwan Railways passenger cars from different periods, and a miniature dynamic model of Taipei Station before it was underground. It’s a must-visit for railway enthusiasts! To get there, take the Songshan-Xindian Line to “Beimen Station” and walk for about 5 minutes.

The Qi Dong Poetry Salon is a hidden Japanese-style architectural complex in the bustling area of Taipei, and it is currently the most well-preserved Japanese dormitory complex in Taipei City. Some of the buildings in the Qi Dong Poetry Salon are open to the public and have been transformed into a base for Taiwanese literature. To get to the Qi Dong Poetry Salon, take the Bannan Line or the Xinlu Line to “Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station” and walk for about 10 minutes.

Nangang Bottle Cap Factory
The Nangang Bottle Cap Factory in Taipei is a newly established attraction in the city in 2021. Located near the Nangang Station, it is easily accessible by MRT, train, or bus. The factory retains some Japanese-style architecture and white brick exterior walls. A visit to the Nangang Bottle Cap Factory on a weekend will reveal many photogenic corners!
The Xinfu Town Cultural Market is located in the Wanhua District of Taipei, hidden within the Sanshui Market and close to the Longshan Temple MRT station and Bopiliao Historic Block. It is a century-old historic building. The most distinctive feature of the Xinfu Town Cultural Market is its horseshoe-shaped exterior. After being renovated by the Zhongtai Architecture Foundation, it is now a cultural market mainly selling creative products. To get there, take the MRT Bannan Line to “Longshan Temple Station” and walk for about 1 minute from Exit 3.

Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology
The Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology, located on the left bank of Bali in New Taipei City, is Taiwan’s first municipal archaeological museum. The museum was established to promote the prehistoric culture of the Shihsanhang site. The museum also has many permanent exhibitions, making it a great place for the whole family to learn about history and culture. Air Force Village in Sanchong
The Air Force Village in Sanchong was originally a military dependents’ village for the air defense artillery unit. After renovation, it was opened to the public. The park retains most of the architectural style of the military dependents’ village and has different exhibition spaces and indoor installation art, making it a great place for couples to take photos! To get there, take the MRT Xinzhuang Line to “Sanchong Station” and walk for about 10 minutes.
