Introduction to Tamsui Tianyuan Temple
Tamsui Tianyuan Temple was completed in 1985 and is located in the suburbs of Tamsui, New Taipei City, about a 5-minute drive from Tamsui MRT Station. The most famous feature is the five-story “Wu Ji Tian Yuan Zhen Tan” within the temple. Every year from late March to early April, Yoshino cherry blossoms bloom around the Tiantan, allowing visitors to enjoy both the cherry blossoms and the magnificent Tiantan architecture. This is why Tamsui Tianyuan Temple is a must-visit cherry blossom viewing spot!

The Tianyuan Temple Cherry Blossom Season is mainly divided into two stages. The first stage is the tricolor cherry blossoms on the back mountain, which bloom from January to mid-February each year. The second stage is the Yoshino cherry blossoms near the Tiantan, which is the highlight of the Tianyuan Temple cherry blossoms, blooming from mid-March to mid-April each year.The 2024 Tianyuan Temple cherry blossoms are currently in full bloom, so plan your cherry blossom viewing trip now!
How to Get to Tianyuan Temple
Due to the large influx of traffic during the cherry blossom season, the New Taipei City Government implements traffic control every year during the cherry blossom season. Based on past experiences, it is recommended to take the bus to Tianyuan Temple as the area around Beixin Road is not very large.

To take the Tianyuan Temple cherry blossom shuttle bus, you can board at Tamsui MRT Station. Alternatively, you can take bus routes 866, 875, 876, and 877, which pass through Beixin Road.

Tianyuan Temple Cherry Blossom Photography Tips
To capture the cherry blossoms at Tianyuan Temple, both cameras and smartphones work well. However, since the Yoshino cherry branches are relatively high, it’s recommended to use a telephoto lens for different angles. Philos usually brings a telephoto lens, such as a 70-200mm zoom lens, to shoot close-ups or detailed shots of the cherry blossoms. Additionally, a mid-range lens, like a 35mm or 50mm, is useful for capturing the temple and surrounding cherry blossoms. Renowned as one of Taiwan’s premier spots for viewing autumn foliage, Fushoushan Farm is often a challenging destination due to its remote location and the difficulty of securing accommodations. Despite the stunning photos available online, visiting in person is no easy feat. However, I had the chance to join a 24-hour photography tour, which eliminated the hassles of booking and transportation, allowing me to finally witness the beauty of Fushoushan.
The Changhua Railway Roundhouse is the only moving historical monument in Changhua County and the only remaining fan-shaped garage in Taiwan. Located near the Taiwan Railways Changhua Station, it is easily accessible by foot. Although the site is not large, it is a fun and educational destination for families on weekends. It is a must-visit for train enthusiasts and a free attraction in Changhua. Inside, you can see some of the only remaining steam locomotives in Taiwan, adding historical and cultural value to this fan-shaped garage.
